I have lived in NC for 17-years now, and I remember when there wasn’t much to downtown Raleigh. However, the Side Street has been around for many, man years, and I started going there shortly after moving here. It is certainly one of Raleigh’s treasures. Their sandwiches are delicious, and there are wide varieties to choose from. The old building that it is located in provides lots of character, and I am a fan of the white tablecloths and napkins. Do save room for desserts, because they are yummy, and there are all kind of things to choose from. My personal favorite is the carrot cake, but the chocolate pie is also decadent.
So, Foundation had been on my list of places that I wanted to try for awhile. Well, I finally made it there last night, and I loved it. I will certainly be going back. The basement atmosphere was cool. I really enjoy that there isn’t smoking, and it is nice that they have outside tables. The drinks are unique and super tasty——like that things are kept as local as possible. My bartender, Kevin, was great——attentive and on top of things. I am looking forward to my next visit which will be sooner rather than later. Cheers!
This place is as darling as can be. And, the frosting is amazing—-delectable. I do find that the cupcakes are a bit on the dry side. Personally, I would prefer them to be more moist. My favorite is the What’s Up Doc? I really like the mini cupcakes—-you have to pre-order them. It would be fun if they offered them all the time. This would allow for people to have more than one flavor at a time. It is a good and cute place to stop in for a sweat treat.
Love, love, love Bella Monica. It is totally worth leaving downtown to go to this place. And, it is not that far outside the beltline. It is usually quite busy, so a reservation is a good idea. I love their meatballs and gravy——the best in town hands down. It is hard for me to ever get anything else. But, their flatbreads are tasty and fresh. They usually have some tempting specials too. The serive is top-notch, and it is a pleasure to see the owners/managers working hard to keep things running smoothly.
So, it was a beautiful Sunday evening. Game 5 of the Canes and Bruins series was starting soon. It was also Mother’s Day, and I was taking the parents out for dinner. Well, I decided to go to Tobacco Road Sports Café. I had walked by there lots of times and had stopped in for a drink outside on their patio once before. Well, we got an outside table——their outside seating is really well done—-quite comfy. And, it is cool to be able to see TVs from out there.
This was my first experience with the food at Tobacco Road. It was quite tasty. Our table had an order of their corn dogs—-delectable. Corn dogs are far from something that I eat everyday, so it was nice to have some that are homemade and a quality product. All three of the sliders were tasty——had one of each kind that they offer.
What I really liked was that the owners were there working on a Sunday evening. I ran into both Alex and Brian Amra. Perhaps this is part of the reason why things were running so smoothly. I’ll be back for more vittles, drinks, sports and good times.
