Do not go to this restaurant. You may have heard the food is good, and it may be, but I won’t ever know because my friends and I were TURNED AWAY based on how we were dressed. We were given the “once over” look from the hostess (we are 20-somethings, wearing jeans, mostly t-shirts and sneakers but we realized there was NOT a dresscode when we saw a patron already inside eating that was wearing jeans and flip-flops with a casual t-shirt), and then she called her manager over, who gave us the same look and asked if we had a reservation. We did not, and she promptly told us they were completely booked and could not take us. This was 6:30 on a Wednesday night, and there were only about 8 people eating in the restaurant at the time, with at least 10 tables open. You could see in her eyes that she thought we were not good enough to eat there. We were all completely aware that the cheapest item on the menu was $11, but we wanted good italian food and could afford the high prices, and were prepared for that. But because we didn’t LOOK like we could afford it, she turned us away.
She has lost our business permanently, and hopefully yours too - if you don’t mind being judged before given a chance, eat at Gravy. If you find this as offensive as we did, then do not give Gravy your business. They do not deserve it. Go to Picollo Italia in Cameron Village instead, they are amazing.
