My choice for an Italian restaurant in Raleigh ..... always where I have my birthday dinner. This restaurant is consistently good .... after eating here (and the earlier version Villa Capri) for at least 40+ years, I have never had anything but excellent food.
I have loved Side Street for almost thirty years ....... the soups and sandwiches are fabulous! Always save room for dessert! And the building provides character for a great lunch.
Great place for dinner especially when the weather permits dining on the front porch. Never had anything less than an outstanding dinner!
I have eaten here for thirty years and have never been disappointed. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is a step back in time ........ and the food is always consistently good. Great place for lunch .... you never know who you will see!
on Mecca Restaurant 09/20/09I must disagree with the previous review ... this restaurant is good for what they promote which is home cooking. Their fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits, okra, etc. are very good. So far, the desserts have not been good, i.e. peach cobbler. But for vegetables, biscuits, and Southern cooking, it is good for the price.
