Reviews By Matt W

Wonderful food, nice atmosphere, and reasonable prices.  Not much to dislike about this spot if you are looking for a watering hole or a solid Irish place and you find yourself in the Brier Creek area.  I’ve never been disappointed.

Positives: Location is awesome, atmosphere is really great, prices are reasonable, pretty good beer menu

Negatives: Food is decidedly average, it gets LOUD LOUD LOUD on weekend nights indoors.  That’s kind of the point though I guess so I won’t mark them down for that.

I go here for lunch quite often.  I love all of the main dishes (especially the black bean burger!), but the sides are hit and miss.  If they have the cous cous, order it because it is really good.  The carrot ginger salad that comes as the normal side is pretty bland.  Prices are a bit higher than I would like—$10 for a meal w/ no drink, but for the refreshingly healthy food and very good service it is worth it.

We have tried desperately to find a good pizza delivery spot in N Raleigh, and out of all that we have tried (Max’s, Schiano’s, more I can’t remember), this place was the hands-down winner.  Unfortunately, they took over an hour to deliver the pizza.  In fairness, I received a call from the manager after 30 minutes saying that there had been a power outage, and he offered two free desserts as an apology.  The power outage story was a bit dubious, but at least they called and apologized, which is more than you get from most places.  We’ll order here again.

Raleigh Times is everything a bar should be.  Unbelievable selection of beer (though I wish they would carry some lower-end stuff for the tight budget weekends), great location, and top notch bar food.  Service was fast even though the bar was packed.  Would have preferred a slightly more affable waitress, but she was busy so honestly I can’t complain.
