Shimmer Wall Gets Lit, Officially
Across McDowell from the Shimmer wall tonight at 8:45, Mayor Meeker and the CEO of Cree will light the shimmer wall up, officially. Even though we covered it last week with pictures, Cree has to get their 1,000,000 s worth of press so tonight is the private government ceremony. Cree Lights Up Convention Center Shimmer Wall
Update: At 8:45 pm on Thursday, Sept. 4, Cree CEO and Chairman Chuck Swoboda will join Mayor Charles Meeker to flip the switch and light the Shimmer Wall for the first official time. This Week Cree’s LED lighting system behind the Shimmer wall was turned on, presenting the city with a rainbow of light. Click above for larger images. Convention Center Shimmer Wall Complete (Updated)
The last panels of the Raleigh Convention Center Shimmer Wall were installed Saturday. Minus a couple of minor details and the LED lighting, the installation is complete. (Updated with Images from Monday June 30th) Images and Videos, below the fold.

As we announced last week, the Shimmer Wall at the Raleigh Convention Center in Downtown Raleigh has started installation. Almost a week later and the pace has picked up on the construction of one of the largest public art projects in the area and we have photos and video below the fold.
